This past weekend was Easter Sunday, and many people took the opportunity to celebrate, relax and spend time with their loved ones. Here at CAFE, we were busy preparing for the annual CPRA Easter Scramble that takes place each year in CityPlace, at Canoe Landing Park! The event was spearheaded by CAFE back in 2017, and since then has grown to be a wholesome, family-friendly event that brings together the entire community.
We are proud to see how many local businesses and organizations come together to put on the Easter Scramble for the entertainment of children and families in the area. This year, organizations like Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Hunter’s Landing and Goppion Caffetaria all came together to put on the event – offering their spaces for face and egg painting, arts and crafts and providing coffee and baked goods for participants.
The day was beautiful, bright and sunny – a perfect setting for our annual Easter Scramble. The event takes place in Canoe Landing Park, right across the street from our 68 Fort York dispensary location. The day featured 3 separate egg hunts, where children were let onto the field and “scrambled” to collect as many eggs as possible once the signal was given. Each child could then take their full basket of eggs and redeem them for various prizes at designated tables.
There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the excitement on little faces as they got to meet their favourite Easter celebrity – the Easter Bunny, of course! Children were beyond thrilled to participate in the treasure hunt, collect eggs and get their hands on some sweet prizes. Of course, there were many photo ops with the Bunny himself.
The day was full of excitement as young ones dashed about between the different stations, collecting eggs, prizes and getting their hands into lots of arts and crafts. Of course, they were happy to pose for photos as well!
One of the face painting stations was run by Ashante, the talented artist who hosts our Puff & Paint events. We were so thrilled to see her in action!
We are so thankful to our staff for volunteering to be part of this wholesome event! We are happy to have had yet another successful Easter Scramble. We can’t wait to do it all over again next year.
