This month we had the opportunity to return to IDFK Studios for another exciting immersive art experience! Named Retro Apocalypse, this visually stunning affair was part art show, part market, and very friendly towards cannabis and psychadelics. Cannabis-focused entertainment has really taken off in the last year or so, as more people are becoming interested in the experience of recreational consumption while engaging in social and cultural activities. CAFE is proud to continue to dominate Toronto’s cannabis-entertainment scene, with our ongoing lineup of comedy nights, cannabis and fine dining SENSES events, Puff & Paint nights and many others. In addition to hosting some very exciting events, we also love to collaborate with others in the scene and participate in events hosted by others, such as Retro Apocalypse. We loved being a part of this exciting experience!
In keeping with its name, the event featured a wide range of apocalyptic artworks by talented Toronto artists. From abstract paintings of every size, sculptures, mixed-media art pieces to live performances and music, this event had it all. Show attendees could browse the marketplace and score their favourite products, including our premium CAFE cannabis! Our CAFE team was on hand with some of our most popular products at the moment – a wide assortment of Kushkraft pre-rolls, Sticky Bangers, Jeffreys and for the edible lovers – Euphoria Shatter Bars and Shatter Chews. Guests were free to consume their cannabis in a designated outdoor area and then feel free to make their way through the immersive art experience, which spanned two large rooms inside the studio.
Each artwork was entirely unique and told its own story. The exhibit also featured a cool 3D wall projection, which would emulate the physical movements of those interacting with it. Local DJs set the scene with electronic beats, and guests could go into the back room to hit the bar for some drinks, while taking in more artwork along the way. On the second night of the event, a very talented CAFE team member took the stage for his own performance – elaborately twirling a long, slender baton and even a fire stick – to an audience that watched in awe and disbelief!
WNDRLND took place over Friday and Saturday and received a lot of visitors, who delighted in the immersive audio and visual experience in the space. Aside from the art on display, the lights were dim and warm coloured, and local musicians and DJs created an ambient atmosphere.
We had an excellent time at Retro Apocalypse and loved being a part of this event. It was an excellent opportunity to meet and connect with others who appreciate cannabis and art, and a great community collaboration that we were proud to contribute to. We can’t wait to go back!
